Nia Been is a Licensed Master Social Worker who provides Mental Health Counseling to adults 18+ at Aspect. She received her Master of Social Work from Binghamton University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from SUNY Old Westbury. Nia utilizes a variety of evidence-based practices including CBT, Mindfulness-Based stress reduction, narrative therapy, MI, SFBT, humanistic, Client-Centered, and integrative therapy with her patients.
Nia has previous experience in youth residential treatment facilities, inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment, outpatient mental health clinics and private practice, and correctional facilities. Her specialties include anxiety disorders, depression, mood regulation disorders, trauma processing (including intergenerational and domestic violence), substance use, boundary setting, improving self-esteem, and dual diagnosis treatment for clients with co-occurring mental health disorders (with or without co-occurring substance use disorder). Nia is a tremendous advocate for her clients and believes that all people can implement positive changes in their lives, that can lead to substantial improvements in an individual’s quality of life, regardless of their situation. Nia believes in promoting each client’s right to self-determination to the highest degree.
